How Eloline rates Rainbow Six Siege teams
Each team carries an Elo rating that moves after every series according to the maps won and lost: a 2-0 counts for more than a 2-1, and an upset moves the numbers further than an expected result. The probability of winning a whole series is built from the probability of winning a single map, so the same rating gap matters more in a best of five than in a best of one.
Counter-Strike teams travel between open and invitational events all year, so CS2 uses a single pool: new teams start from the tier of the events they enter. Rainbow Six also rates everyone in one pool, with no league levels at all: tested on 3,359 matches, adding league levels made the picks worse. Valorant is split into VCT regions that rarely meet, so each league also has its own strength level, learned from international events, and teams start from their league's level. In every game, teams that sit out for a long time drift back toward their starting point and forfeits are ignored; in CS2 and Valorant, when a lineup changes the rating is also pulled partway toward what the incoming players brought from their old teams.
The arrow next to a rating shows its change over 30 days. Ratings update within minutes of a result and the whole table is replayed from every match since 2024 once a day. The model's settings are chosen by replaying that history and scoring each prediction made before the match; the hit rate is published once enough matches are scored.
