Major simulator: questions

How does the CS2 Major format work?

Three Swiss stages of 16 teams: three wins advance, three losses eliminate, and matches that decide advancement or elimination are best of three. Eight teams from Stage 1 join the eight teams invited to Stage 2, eight from Stage 2 join the eight invited to Stage 3, and the top eight of Stage 3 play a single-elimination playoff.

Which teams are in the simulator?

The 32 teams that would be invited if the Valve Regional Standings invitation tables of 05.10.2026 were final, placed into Stage 1, 2 or 3 by the regional quotas of the Major rulebook.

How are the next rounds paired?

Round 1 is seed 1 against seed 9, 2 against 10 and so on. After that teams with the same record meet: within a record group they are ordered by Buchholz (the combined win-loss difference of their past opponents) and seed, and the top team plays the lowest team it has not met yet.
